Zürich, February 2020 – FairWild Foundation has begun the year by welcoming a new member to the Board of Trustees – Sebastian Pole (Lic OHM, Ayur HC, MAPA, MRCHM, MURHP), a practitioner of herbal medicine and co-founder of Pukka Herbs Ltd.

Prior to his appointment to the Board of Trustees, Sebastian served on FairWild’s Advisory Panel from its establishment in 2017. He has been a firm ambassador for the FairWild mission – raising awareness about the challenges facing wild plants and rural communities to peer companies and the general public, as well as championing commitments to use of FairWild-certified ingredients within the scope of Pukka’s own business operations.

Sebastian’s nomination to the Board was confirmed in December 2019, and he will now begin a three-year term as Trustee of the FairWild Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization registered in Zurich, Switzerland.

"The FairWild vision of a fair and sustainable future for wild plant resources and people is completely aligned with my own values and priorities. I am passionate about the sustainable supply of organic herbs, as well as working with communities to protect both their livelihoods and local ecosystems.

Joining the FairWild Board of Trustees is a wonderful opportunity to serve the rural communities and wild plant species around the world on which we all rely – and to help advance the principles of sustainable business, conservation and equitable use of wild resources on a global scale.”

Founded in 2001, Pukka Herbs is one of the UK’s leading organic brands, offering a range of organic and ethically traded herbal tea and supplements. Over two million cups of Pukka tea are drunk every day across more than 40 companies.

Commitment to sustainable business principles is reflected in Pukka’s pioneering adoption of certifications and memberships – in addition to participating in the FairWild certification scheme, the business is 100% organic, has all its teas certified Fair for Life, is a member of 1% for the Planet (giving 1% of turnover to environmental charities) and is a member of the B-Corporation.

As well as formulating all Pukka Herbs’ organic herbal teas and supplements, Sebastian also runs his own herbal practice. He has been in clinical practice since 1998. Sebastian is a registered member of the Ayurvedic Practitioners Association, Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine and the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners.
