FAIRWILD IMPACT REPORT 2024
We are thrilled to announce the release of the FairWild Foundation's 2024 Impact Report, a powerful reflection of our collective journey towards a world where biodiversity, people, and businesses thrive in harmony. This year's report highlights our ongoing efforts to deepen our commitment to a fair and sustainable future for wild plant resources, guided by our core pillars of Nature, People, and Business.
2024 was a strategic year for FairWild, marked by significant milestones and impactful growth. With the successful roll-out of our revised Standard 3.0, we've made certification even more accessible, allowing a broader range of operators—from small-scale harvesters to global traders—to join our growing community.
This commitment is evident in the certification of 13 additional species, including our first certified fungi, bringing the total to 72 species. We also confidently expanded into new terrain, responding to a growing demand for traceable, ethical, and regenerative ingredients in the cosmetics and fragrance sectors.
Key highlights from the report include:
Nature:
Over 1.4 million hectares of wild land were protected through the sustainable wild harvesting of 72 certified species, actively contributing to biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.
Business:
The revised FairWild Standard 3.0 made certification more accessible, welcoming a broader range of collection operators across 29 countries. The standard provides businesses with essential assurance through transparent, traceable, and resilient supply chains, helping to build consumer trust and combat greenwashing.
FairWild also successfully expanded into the cosmetics and fragrance sectors, meeting the growing demand for traceable and ethically sourced wild ingredients.
People:
Dignified livelihoods were provided for over 11,500 collectors, and more than 36,000 people benefited from the FairWild premium. For businesses, FairWild offers more than just certification; it provides assurance and resilience in an increasingly complex world. We ensure fully transparent and traceable supply chains, helping brands meet legal requirements and growing consumer demands for ethical sourcing and building genuine brand loyalty by avoiding greenwashing.
Our unique specialisation in wild ingredients, high level of personalisation, and tailor-made community support make FairWild an irresistible offer for those committed to ethical and sustainable growth.
Looking ahead to 2025, our focus is clear: consolidate and scale this momentum. We will deepen our engagement across high-impact sectors, from wellness to aromatherapy, while supporting regenerative landscape approaches that go beyond sustainability and restore ecosystems at their roots. We will also continue investing in tools and partnerships that make certification more meaningful, more credible, and more aligned with global biodiversity and climate goals.
We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support and engagement of our partners, harvesters, and consumers on this vital journey—a journey that goes beyond sustainability to create a truly thriving community and demonstrates the power of partnerships.
