Green Economies - FairWild in India's Western Ghats

This video introduces two conservation projects funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) in India's Western Ghats. In Maharashtra (start at 5.13 min), Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF) has developed green economies based on sustainable harvesting of non-timber forest products, according to the FairWild Standard. Introducing new and original ideas into the Western Ghats' rural economic systems, AERF has demonstrated benefits of linking producers to markets for environmentally sustainable products - for both conservation and livelihoods.
