Innovation in sustainable wild sourcing helps Neal’s Yard Remedies win a Sustainable Business Award

April 2015 – The efforts of cosmetics manufacturer Neal’s Yard Remedies with the FairWild Standard have been recognised through the Guardian Sustainable Business awards. The company is the 2015 winner of the innovation award in the supply chain category.

The Guardian judges commented: “What stood out was the perseverance and long-term commitment … they are constantly innovating, including the pioneering use of groundbreaking standards.”

The company's experience with FairWild and other fair trade schemes has been profiled in the article "Fair Trading for the Future". The FairWild project with the Samburu tribe in Northern Kenya, focusing on the sustainable harvesting of Frankincense resin, was the first such initiative worldwide. The collection operation with which Neal's Yard Remedies partners has been FairWild-certified since 2013.
